Learning to Work

Blisters are nasty uncomfortable things. No man is born with calluses. At one point or another as he learns to work he gets blisters. As he continues to work he gets more blisters. The body then defends itself and thickens the skin under the blisters and eventually develops a fine callus. He then can work all day without developing a blister. Learning to work and getting calluses have a lot in common it starts out painfully but ends with a working mans hands and body. To many of our children have never learned to work to the point of getting a callus. Two generations ago every farm boy had them. One of the crimes of our time is the fact that many of our children have never learned to work to the point of developing them.  Richard W Norman
