Doors and Windows

Everyone at on time or another has wished that an effectual door or window would be opened in their life but never stop to think that such success or failure in their own life may be directly related to whether they helped to open or close such doors to success or failure  in other peoples lives. Can they rationally be-leave that the heavens will forever give them continual success in this world or the next without a day of reckoning, whether for good or bad. Those who lift others find that others lift them. What we do with the doors and windows of others lives may well determine the success of our own. Richard W Norman

Making a Gun Safe Fire Resistant

You could have knocked me over with a feather. In looking at gun safes I became acquainted with one of the men who build them. His company that makes one of the higher quality safes uses 5/8 Sheetrock as a fire-retardant. One layer gives 20 minutes of 1200 degree protection. Although it cuts down on internal space it may add an added measure of protection in a less expensive safe that you would have had to pay a lot more money for. They use up to three layers. I am in no way suggesting that you tare a interior of a well designed gun safe apart but I am saying if you have an old safe that has been gutted you could make it something special. Or if building a cubby hole  for a planed gun safe, you might make it a little larger and add to the enclosure, 3 sheets of 5/8 sheet rock this should make any gun safe better and more fire resistant.

9 MM Makarov Brass Homemade

It pays to be able to reload ammo as we watch the men and woman we have elected push and plan for national disarmament over and over again. Some may not be able to come up with the ammo they want for the gun they are lucky enough to have. The Makarov cartage has a bullet that is 9.22 MM making captured ammo in a war unusable in NATO guns that shoot 9MM Luger.
In a time of national crises it may be necessary to make ammo you do not have or can not get. First use good loading information and powder charges in this system is completely safe.  Using a case trimmer cut down 9MM Luger shell casings to the same height of a 9MM  Makarov and use a Makarov sizing dye if using the larger bullet. If using a normal 9MM bullet then use the 9MM Luger sizing dies and full length size. It is said that the cut down 9MM Luger shell casing will not chamber well in all guns. In that case if you find that your gun is one of those that douse not chamber well drill a hole .388 diameter in a steal plate and using a file widen the entrance in the steel plate slightly using a home hydraulic press  press the empty case through with a steal rod inside the empty shell casing, then load normally.(Or tap them through if the press is not avalible)
If you have to scavenge bullets when ammo can not be had it will be necessary to reworking loaded 9 MM Luger ammo in an emergency (like a war and at no other time) it will be necessary to pull the bullet cut down the shell casing to size and cut the powder charge as the cut down smaller shell casing will increase chamber pressure and could blow up the gun. Increase the powder charge in tell the gun functions normally. Save the remaining powder as it will be useful in reloading used shell casings. Richard W. Norman

Substitute Gun Oil

We may not be able to go to the store and buy what we need in the future so putting away a little something would be wise now wile you can. This is my personal back stock of varying powder solvents and lubricants some military surplus and others from regular store brand variate. I bought most of this stuff when it was a dollar a can at gun shows. The metal plate they set on was a scrap of air conditioner duct in case the very old cans ever leak. I spend some time talking about alternatives for gun oil and homemade Hoppe's #9  formula in my book. But in an emergency finding a substitute for gun oil could be a problem if you use the wrong stuff. The lightest readily available oil is automatic transmission oil as it is a straight 10 weight oil. Multi-weight oils like 10-30 and 10-40 etc thicken as the gun heats up and could make the gun unusable. In a stress situation auto transmission oils are the lightest readily accessible straight 10 weight oil you can find. power steering oil, hydraulic oil   are all 10 weight oils. A BAD FORMULA found on the internet was absolutely ridiculous and that was 25% STP oil treatment which is like honey 25% 30 weight synthetic motor oil  motor oil and  50% automatic transmission fluid. The viscosity has to be very close to 90 weight gear oil which would not do aney gun, any good. To see a gun book by the author clock my name. The book deals deals wit the political problems of the day and the rest deals entirely in home arms ammo and gun supply's. Another words how to make what you can no longer buy in the future in order to keep your gun working when no one else could.    Richard W Norman

Living like a king.

Be satisfied with what you have—work for what you need—if you have talent make what you cannot afford and forget fad or fashion and what you cannot make or afford—("clean up, paint up, fix up, and use up" Spencer W Kimball)-- live within your means and you will live like a king. By cutting your budget you will be more likely to be able to afford to buy and store better guns, ammo, and most important re-loading equipment, books and information.   Richard W Norman

Armed Resistance and the 4th of July

The 4th of July alwase brings to mind the need of vigilince and sacrifice to stay free. WWII is so close in the past that perhaps we can relate to the strugles of others as they too sought fot their fredoms. The Philippine have over 7000 islands. We sometimes look at only the larger islands in the study of history but take for granted that the Japanese were in completes control, but they were not. In WWII the US army was pushed out of the Philippines or captured but there were some isolated pockets of resistance at first. Soon these Filipino  people were uniting and swelling their ranks. The Filipino people have an indomitable sprite and were not to be ruled over willingly. The rallying cry to fight the Japanese was simple but effective. "If the least we do is to fertilize the soil where we fall, then we will grow a richer grain for tomorrow's stronger nation" If such a occupation happened here by the invader or the traitor in high places then I would suggest a revision of that statement. If the lest we do is to fertilize the ground with the blood of those who stood against the Constitution and sided with the invader or oppressor then we will teach our children to look for a better tomorrow and leave a generation more politically aware to support good people at the ballet box.  The small towns and villages of the Philippines held meetings and voted to unite in the defense of their liberty. They planted extra food crops and were prepared to see their towns and villages burned to the ground rather than submit to the invader. General MacArthur did not know at first the formidable force they created and when he was asked if they should attack he urged restraint so as not to strengthen the Japanese forces in the outlying arias. The Japanese were limited on some islands as to only be in control of the major port and a city or two but some of the rest of the islands were printing their own money and running their own lights and telephone and electing their own leaders independent of the invader. When General MacArthur did come these islands that had so limited the Japanese were easily retaken. Richard W Norman
