In the disarmament of England as well as Australia after it became illegal to own guns webbing was next on the hit list. Webbing holds ammo canteens and anything a soldier would carry. This makes disarmament a scary proposition as it is now quite apparent that in some countries their governments are really afraid of their people. There is probably many fine videos on leather working so going through each step is not important. It is sufficient to say that this was a simple copy job. Some adaptation are possible of standard products to carry ammo and some very fine products can be made by the copying of known products. This is possible by directly copying a product as I have done in this example or simply using photos from old sales brochures. We think of leather as needing special tools to work with like an awl to sew with but this has become a thing of the past. A normal drill will do in this type of production work with a fine drill bit and a set of carpet needles and some carpet thread. even many layers of leather or plastic yield to the drill bit All the holes were pre-drilled where the part needed to be sewn. In an emergency old shoes or new purchased vinyl can supply a wealth of material to produce webbing. The point is that a weapon is un-usable if you can not first present it and second feed it quickly and easily. Speed loaders for a revolver is a critical product. The other thing worth mentioning is the fact that Velcro will provide a way to produce webbing without needing to produce or buy difficult snaps. I used a paper clip in the holes below so the curved needle can find the hole. The small hand held motor tools are not needed if you are careful and use a drill and a small bit and a block of wood. Speaking of wood even if you did not have a speed loader a piece of wood drilled with the right number of holes will allow you to quickly have the right number of bullets in your hand all facing in the same direction. The photos are pretty much self explanatory below.

Leather is a very good product and usually good enough to last one war. Old leather products may last a wile but may need replacement while you can Good vinyls and semi-hard plastics should last longer than leather if you are making products from salvaged materials.. Richard W Norman
