Ammo Application in Gun Function Part 11 of 12

Part 11 of 12 Bullet shape and your magazine in semi-auto pistols and rifles—Many people want: hollow point, semi wad cutter ammo which is almost flat with a steep sloping shoulder or some other defensive ammo etc. of a peculiar shape or nature. This is all well and good, but, ammo is no good if it will not shoot or function in your gun. You need to fire a couple of boxes of ammo through your gun to see if it works well. If it does fine if not then it is time to look for another type. Without buying a lot of expensive ammo for self-defense a good combination is to alternate in your gun between hollow point for stopping power and hard ball for deep penetration. Hollow point, Hard ball, Hollow point, Hard ball etc.
Revolvers and Speed loaders are gun specific and will be labeled as such. Outside of seeing the obvious difference between a 5 and 6 round speed loader the speed loaders are generally cataloged to brand of gun and frame type of a gun. The most difficult ammo to use is wad cutter ammo as in a stress situation even a policeman will not get all the bullets in his or her gun but many of them will fall on the ground unused. Load the first 5 or 6 bullets in the gun (depending on the revolver type and number of bullets it holds) using wad cutters. The speed loaders should be loaded with a round nosed lead bullets. This will offer you the first shots as a very good bullet followed by the bullets of the speed loader where the lead round nose will deform and bounce on impact.
